I had an amazing time at Guardian Farm. Short answer: if you’re thinking about whether or not to come, the answer is yes.
The farm owner, Sarah, is incredible. She is extremely kind, and generous with her knowledge, space and time. She is extremely compassionate, proven by all the wonderful animals that live on the farm. Sarah allows a lot of freedom to pursue your interests or work within your specialization if possible. She’s a great cook, very intelligent and a keen learner. I left every conversation fascinated by her perspectives and incredible stories from a life passionately lived.
There are so many fun things to do in the area. On the weekends, or after work, there are tons of waterfall hikes, hot springs, swimming holes, rafting, hikes, tastings and tours. And I had some of the best food of my life nearly every day.
I wouldn’t recommend this to everyone. It’s rustic & immersed in nature, it requires proactivity and will get you out of your comfort zone. But that’s what makes any experience great; trying new things and pushing ourselves. So if you can come with an open heart & mind and a desire to learn, this is absolutely an incredible place to stay. You get out what you put in. Think about what you want to get out of the experience, and what you can contribute as well.
